our customer service & people strategy

Who We Are...

We pride ourselves on providing our clients with exceptional solutions delivered with extraordinary customer service. We are committed to understanding our client’s vision and building a solution that will provide a solid foundation that solves their needs and requirements.   We believe that is the best strategy for our success and the success of our clients. Service Excellence is not just a term we created to differentiate ourselves; it is our way of doing business that ensures we are different from our competitors.

Clients For Life

CGC is committed to keeping our Clients for Life. We evaluate our clients as closely as they evaluate us. We believe client retention is philosophy of business that permeates every employee’s attitude and every action that we take to achieve our clients’ visions, help them solve their remodeling challenges, and continuously nurture our mutually beneficial relationship. To keep a client for life, we focus on ensuring there is a synergistic relationship, that we are right for our client and they are right for our company.  We know that keeping a custom is more cost effective than getting new ones and that word of mouth far exceeds any digital or collateral advertising campaign

Service Leadership & Agility

We believe dedicated service is better than taking on every project just because it is offered to us.  The focus of our service is to make sure that each client feels like our only client.  This is an ongoing process and is continuously addressed throughout the relationship – from contract signing and solution definition to implementation and client services – we provide the same level of  dedicated client support.  It is a key point of differentiation for our business and one we will not lose.

ClearPath Implementation

CGC has developed and refined an implementation methodology that gives clients a “clear path” and an expectation at the end of their project.

Continuous Improvement

Each client is crucial to our success. That’s why we empower our employees to protect each clients’ best interests as if they are their own; they are responsible for understanding client expectations, developing trusting relationships and resolving issues as they arise. Through periodic inspections and a dedicated client team, we continuously evaluate the value we provide to ensure we satisfy or exceed your expectations. We implore our clients to set their expectations higher and higher so that we never rest on our laurels.

It's not just the materials that goes into the cost

Food for Thought

"...A lady wanted to purchase a beautiful handmade cake and spotted a cake maker who did absolutely amazing work, but she charged a good price too.

The lady thought that her price was way too high so she approached the cake maker and in quite an abrupt fashion stated "I want to buy a cake from you, but I think you charge too much!"

The cake maker was a little taken aback but replied "Ok, how much do you think I should charge"

The lady replied, "I think you should charge "X" amount, because the flour will cost this much, and eggs this much, and fondant this much, etc.  I have even factored in the price of the pan."

The final price the lady had calculated was a lot cheaper than the cake maker's original price, but she said "Ok, deal.  You will get your cake in a week."

The customer, very pleased with herself, can't resist telling all her friends what a fabulous deal she has negotiated and how smart she is, and that in a week she will have her gorgeous cake.

A week later the cake arrives.  She opens the box and inside is flour, eggs, fondant, etc. and even a pan.  Angrily the lady contacts the cake maker asking "How could you do this to me?  I asked you for a cake and you sent me a box of flour, egg, fondant and a pan?!"

The cake maker quietly replied "My dear, you got exactly what you paid for.  If you think that there is something missing, then you are absolutely right, and if you want it then you need to pay for it."

The moral of the story, when you buy a bespoke service you are not just buying the materials and goods.  You are buying the the time, effort, skill, training, costs of daily running of a business,  tax, but more importantly love, passion and dedication that goes into providing a professional service.

It's all about supporting each other, we're all here to do the same thing...keep a roof over our heads, feed ourselves and our family...

effective May 1, 2025

In May 2025, the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) modified the 301 tariff schedule to allow for negotiations between the U.S. and China. The Trump Administration has decided to increase the current tariff oncertain Chinese-made imports due to dissatisfaction with China’s commitment to address U.S. concerns. The tariff increase took effect on May 10, 2025.

Tariffs are taxes that cannot be negotiated, therefore CGC Contracting must implement timely price increases to cover additional costs in totality. While we cannot give manufacturer-specific price increases at this time, we will immediately follow manufacturer price changes as we receive them.

We do not anticipate any shortages of material. However, increased tariffs will result in price increases by 10%, 15%, 25%, in some cases up to 30%. To better support you, we are proactively contacting all our vendor partners to understand how they will manage price increases including existing job contracts.

Here are the steps we will take given the information we have today:

Unless otherwise noted on Customer’s quotation, all prices are subject to change at any time.

We will continue to competitively quote these products based on our costs. If the additional tariffs are imposed, we will have no choice but to pass these costs on to the Customer.

To be clear, if/when the additional tariffs are imposed, CGC will be forced to price these products based on the costs at the time of shipment.

Our priority is to provide you with access to products at a competitive price, with no disruption in supply. We appreciate your loyalty and understanding as we manage this changing business environment. If you have questions concerning upcoming jobs or existing quotes, please feel free to call the office at 352-766-1880

Thank you for your continued support and partnership.

hgtv facts vs remodeling facts

If you watch HGTV then you understand our addiction.  We are fans of the shows ourselves and in a large part do our remodels and renovations very similar to how it is done on TV.

HGTV has become a four-letter phenomenon that Americans can’t imagine life without. Keep in mind when HGTV debuted nearly 25 years ago, the idea of turning on the TV and being entertained by a bathroom renovation was ludicrous. Today, however, TV execs see home and garden improvement shows like "Property Brothers," "Fixer Upper," and "Love It or List It" as lucrative.

Unfortunately, the shows popularity comes at the expense of professionals. like ourselves.  Unlike viewers, these critics know firsthand that what makes for good reality TV can make for bad reality out in the real world.

Soap operas have kissing scenes and action movies have car chases. On HGTV, there’s usually always a scene where a wall or two get knocked down. That’s OK on shows like "Good Bones," but in real life, walls are often the last thing that gets touched.  Knocking down walls is NOT that easy.

When someone buys a '90s-era home which was built quickly and on the cheap end, it is not possible to rip out walls.  The home must have good bones.  Homeowners still question that and they inevitable wast a lot of money finding out just that.

Transactions and Transformations Take a LOT of time

The number one problem with real estate television shows is that they significantly shorten the amount of time that almost anything takes, for the purposes of advancing the narrative,”  This gives clients unreasonable expectations for timelines.  If you are told a project will take 8-10 weeks, double it for the most realistic time line.  Permitting, problems, unexpected situations almost always arise and this slows down the process.

Insurance & Reality

Watching HGTV one is left out of the real life issues associated with insurance claims, dealing with adjusters, products arriving broken, cracked or incorrect in total.  You won't see delays in shipping, customs issues or change orders.  A total transformation does not happen overnight.

Obtaining permits requires way more patience

HGTV shows sometimes discuss the need for permits, but they don’t often show how this process can slow down the entire project,.  Waiting for approval to move forward can easily increase the remodel time (and the budget) by 50 percent.

Clients who are HGTV fans typically expect the same excitement, surprises and flair that they see on TV.  Our goal is to limit the drama, keep the project on track and let the excitement and surprises come out at the end.  We want to exceed your expectations through the exceptional quality of  our craftsmen.
